Tam o Shanter recital for burns night

DLP15 this week-Words with friends for me consisted of Alan reciting Robert Burns' epic poem, 'Tam O 'Shanter while celebrating Burns Night with friends and family. It was my son's American girlfriend's first Burns Supper! The supper typically of haggis, neeps and tatties was followed by a wee dram. (whisky) In the poem, Burns depicts a vivid picture of the social classes in the old Scottish town of Ayr in the late 18th century. It is populated by several unforgettable characters including Tam himself, his bosom pal, Souter (Cobbler) Johnnie and his own long suffering wife Kate, "Gathering her brows like gathering storm, nursing her wrath to keep it warm". The ghostly, "winsome wench", Cutty Sark is shown here pulling off his poor horse ( a la Guernica-Picasso-esque style) Maggie's tail!
