singing in the snow

ok, so it wasn't quite the blizzard they predicted... but with schools closed and all transit halted, NYC took a little break.

people are complaining that (as it turned out) it wasn't really necessary to close down everything... but last time there was a big storm, the emergency vehicles couldn't get through. this time they didn't want to take any chances. i understand that
folks are upset because they lost money with businesses being forced to close early last night...but on the other hand, what if the storm had been a whopper and you were the one who needed the ambulance and it couldn't get to you...?

meanwhile, kids (and dogs) seemed to have their priorities in the right order -- playtime comes first. so, although there was work to do i put wandering in the park (with camera) first, and shoveling second.

maybe I'm not a real grown-up.
