Just M, me and two oyster catchers

This morning M and l travelled out towards Farewell Spit, the long thin hook of land that stretches out at the very top of north west of the south island. Most of this is a protected area of beach and sand dune and can only be accessed by a bus tour. However, you can go a certain distance up this lonely stretch of beach and we did - and no one else - we had the whole beach to ourselves as you can see.

We stopped at the tiny settlement of Collingwood on the way back and had a SCALLOP pie for lunch.

It has been a very hot couple of days and so the afternoon is taken easily in the shade.
