Light Play

Our unusually mild January weather continues, providing more opportunities to play with low shadows and enjoy being outside.

But this doesn't feel right. The snowpack in the mountains is very low, much to the disappointment of the many avid skiers here, and with implications for the water supply later in the year. If plants bud too early, followed by typical winter temperatures, there could be crop losses, as well as damage done to homeowners' plants.

It may be global warming, or it may just be an aberrant year. Whatever is going on, we need to pay attention. Hindsight won't help us.
