Was It Really So Long Ago

Timing

Master H decided the early hours of this morning should be chosen to be awake. He stuck at it for almost 2 hours, much to the delight of us parents.

The girls made the most of the dusting of snow we'd had this morning while we prepared for a trip to the grandparents. Master H always enjoys a bath which he did very much today (to which I quite deliberately added essence of lavender).

So it wasn't long before he fell asleep in the car and snoozed almost all the way to the grandparents house. Today was the family celebration of Aunty's birthday, the actual day having passed during the week. We all enjoyed a lovely meal, which I washed down with a pint of Spitfire ale and then settled in the lounge for present opening.

Aunty had barely opened her first present before I felt the soporific effects of the ale taking a firm hold, sending me into a sofa slumber. It was shamefully impolite of course, but there I stayed for quite some time and nothing could be done about it. Eventually, I did regain consciousness, timed to perfection as a very aromatic nappy had just been changed. I think it must have been the rolls of laughter that did it, in response to Master H making a break for freedom. He decided to run off around the house in squeals of delight, bare bottomed and before Beloved had the chance to fit a clean nappy. He was quickly re-captured before the inevitable happened.

Shortly afterwards, Uncle brought in tea, closely followed by the birthday cake. Everyone enjoyed a slice after the traditional singing and blowing out of candles. In a break from tradition, Master H stood admiring the cake and sneezed all over the remains of it.
