A view from Jokiasema

I had my first official work day today. I'll spend the first week in Joensuu as there's some more theory and preparations to go through. Next week will be my first at my assigned post in Ilomantsi.

Later at night I went cycling around the town center. This shot is taken from Jokiasema, which is a marina and bar/beer garden located near the spot where Pielisjoki river turns into Lake Pyhäselkä. I think the pile on the right will turn into this year's Midsummer bonfire. I'm not sure why there's an excavator on a raft (of some kind) in the background.
