What the heck !

Whilst driving through the middle of Middle Earth ,near a little town called Raurimu, we were startled to see this creature beside the road. We pulled over and observed him for awhile.As he seemed very quiet and still I crept up,keeping a careful eye on those teeth, and got this snap.
Thanks again to everyone who commented on my recent pics of the  Kaimanawa horses. Seeing animals in the wild really is a special experience.
