Model boating...

on the Model Boating Pond, Hampstead Heath.

Grey and cold but at least it wasn't raining (and still no snow...).  A quick walk over the Heath this afternoon - a recce for the photo walk I'm leading over there next Sunday in conjunction with RPS London Region. Hoping for a fine day.

Despite its name, there are rarely any model boats to be seen on this pond so it was fun to watch this one being sailed over there today.  Its owner was controlling the sails remotely from the bank and was very skillful in the way he swept the boat round to catch the wind.

No sign of preparation for the upcoming work yet. Almost impossible to believe that it's about to happen.  Here's the latest from Protect our Ponds.
