By Any Other Name.

I bought a small garden strawberry plant at the local primary school fête the weekend before last. I've never grown one before, but this little beauty has been thriving on the window sill and may yet bear fruit.

The first garden strawberries were cultivated in Brittany in the mid-18th Century; a cross between wild varieties from North America and Chile, and are related to the Rosaceae family - a cousin to the rose.
