Noodles for Five

Rich and I both get a little stroppy when we’re short of food so, before we set off on the Trilogy to end Trilogies, we devoured noodles for 5 with a stir fry for lunch.  Arriving in Horton in Ribblesdale a little early for the sun disappearing, we also had time to pack in a teacake and a cup of tea.

The wind was a little brisk to say the least and the Three Peaks cafe is never the cosiest place in the world so we had a little marching to do to warm up once we set off up Whernside.

The emerging moon shadow was mesmerising as we headed past Blea Moor signal point and met a lone worker traipsing home along the track.

We were in our element as we walked up in the snow.  We had a little shelter from the North Westerly behind the ridge but it was a touch fierce on top and we didn’t do much hanging around before making our way down.  The clarity was astonishing and we think we could see Blackpool Tower lit up in red on the horizon.

The snow conditions were pretty much perfect underfoot and the light of the moon illuminated the whole landscape with no need for a head torch at all.

There couldn’t have been a finer ending to our Early starts, Sunsets and Moonlit Trilogies.

(Apart from the chicken and rice soup we had in the car and the prawn party food we ate when we got home with a well-needed cup of tea!)
