It snowed again in the night, melting just as dusk is falling and more is forecast. The bird bath was thick with ice which soon disappeared with the help of a kettle of warm water.

Though there was sunshine this afternoon, the temperature struggled to only 4C before beginning its nightly descent to sub-zero.
