Snow Day Shetland

Magical stuff snow.

From the kid perspective, it's the magical element that requires schools to be shut and allows a whole new set of outdoor activities to be invoked.

From a (slightly) older perspective it magically transforms landscapes.

Messy, untidy scenes get cleansed and changed into a clean unsullied sights. And hidden patterns get revealed.

The cliffs at Siggar Ness (the southern outcrop of Fitful Head) at the extreme southwest corner of Shetland are usually an impressive but fairly featureless block - dust them with a little bit of magical snow (and add a little sunlight to taste) and they transformed in a rich set of textures.

There are more pictures from today's wanderings around the southern tips of Shetland on Flickr.
