Shadows

Last April, I  seriously aggravated a herniated disc in my lower back, the original injury which occurred over twenty years ago or so, and I was laid up for almost a month. I was unable to walk and I endured quite a bit of pain when I attempted to sit for any length of time. My mother died during that spell, and I was unable to fly back to Ohio for the funeral. There were moments in which I wondered if I would ever walk again. These, of course, seem almost silly to me now.

Today, I had a follow-up appointment with the doctor. I still have some numbness in my foot and lower leg but I'm otherwise doing quite well. Typically, I walk the nearly two miles home  from the clinic and today was no different.
