Fieldfare

I went to my Mum and Dad's today. Whilst there my Dad told me about this bird that had been visiting their garden and eating apples from the ground for the past couple of days. From his description I had no idea what it could be.

Fortunately it came back again and I was able to get a couple of shots of it. Brian told me it is a Fieldfare, a member of the Thrush family that winters over here, but breed in Northern Europe and Asia.

If it hadn't been for this I was going to use a snowy scene shot. Out in the sticks there is more snow on the ground than here. Hopefully I will get another chance for a snow shot soon!
