Brick wall

This wall* was rendered this morning. The trouble is, the render had 'blown' and needed to be removed. So our rendered wall is now a brick wall.

On the bright side it gave me today's blip. On the downside, it gave me a sore thumb. A lump hammer is a heavy hunk of iron...

* The wall forms part of an outbuilding first used in Victorian times as a dispensary by the then owner, a Dr Drinkwater; we still have his brass plaque - found in the garden, no less - showing his occupation as 'Apothecary and Surgeon'.

As the house, which doubled as his surgery, is several hundred feet above the town and about two miles away, his patients couldn't have been too ill if they could drag themselves up here to see him! Or, more likely, he did a lot of house calls. Remember them?
