Nottingham's Big Wheel

Bit of a misnomer that.
This is officially called "Mellor's 60 metre observation wheel".
It rolled into town (not literally, of course!) about a week ago and is in Slab Square opposite the Council House.
This wheel actually spends most of its year in Torquay, except for a brief period around Christmas and New Year when it is in London's Hyde Park.
This one has come back to Nottingham for just three weeks prior to being dismantled, serviced and painted.
It is as tall as fifteen double decker buses, weighs 365 tonnes, has 40 gondolas with a maximum total capacity of 240 people.
It takes ten qualified riggers and a 72 Tonne crane a week to erect, and 4 days to de-commission, requiring 11 trailers to transport it from place to place.
This wheel has a "big brother" in Dubai which is 90 metres in diameter!!
Now you know as much as the proud owner told me!
