Maryland Dove

This is a re-creation of the 17th century trading ship Dove as in the Arc and Dove that landed in Maryland. The original one was launched in England in 1632. She landed in St. Mary's Maryland March 25 1634 on Indian land. They purchased the land from the Yaocomico Indain's and started a new settlement .
She has been hauled and is having some repair work done. I found it interesting to see the boat as a whole since we usually only see the upper half. It is also a joy to see her on the beautiful St. Mary's River under sail. She has 2 small diesel engines to keep her going in times of need. Hope you enjoyed the ride!
