Homework!

One of my challenges in working for the Woodland Trust Scotland is learning about the variety of native trees that we have in this country.

Before I started I could recognise a few of the most obvious ones, like oak and Scots pine, but I'd struggle to tell you the difference between ash and alder.

Luckily there's a great team of experts to rely on, and the Woodland Trust also produces excellent resources like this one to help me develop an eye for native species.

Best of all, I've got another excuse to get out for a walk in the woods!
