Mallard vs Wood Duck

Saw the first Wood Duck today in Whatcom Falls Park. He is really early this year. We've had one of the warmest, sunniest winters on record I am sure. Days of rain yes. But hard rain instead of soft, and then sun again. Just as much rain falls but in less days. Anyhow, this male Wood Duck was swimming around on Derby Pond. I kept trying to get a closer view. Finally I did. What beautiful birds they are.
