Fungus?

I find these things that grow on stumps very lovely. I gather some of them are edible - but I have no idea about this particular one. It's growing on a block of wood out by our woodpile. Meanwhile, it was 70+ F degrees here today. Dreams of Spring being right around the corner... likely to be dashed, but we can dream.
