Dark Days

Someone’s charcoaled in the sky.
It can’t really be this grey.

Yes, someone’s taken all the blue away
and somehow made the plane look sinister.

Isn’t that so, plane? Isn’t that so?
But I bet you’re carrying innocent cargo.

Aged holidaymakers to Spain, perhaps.
Or a bunch of media students

en route to Amsterdam
where they’ll visit the home of Anne Frank

and make a documentary
about the trip and all they’ve seen.

The Red Light District will be in colour (garish/
bright). There will be footage of the flight.

Any mention of Anne Frank, I’m guessing,
will be sombre and in black and white.
