Turkeytail fungus

Trametes versicolor (meaning thin, of several colours) or Turkeytail fungus formerly known as Many-zoned Polypore.

I found it on some rotting wood and thought it very pretty. Of course to post it here I had to look it up and discovered it's very common across Britain & Ireland and also occurs in mainland Europe. Not that I intended trying it, but apparently it's tough and inedible. I've learned something to add to my general knowledge of the natural world. Excellent!
