Red sky at night

Today I went diving, completing two dives with a local dive company. My first dive was on the SS Stavronikita, which is a 365ft long Greek freighter sunk in the 1980s.

The top of the mast is only about 15ft below the surface but the deck is 100ft deep and at its deepest the bottom of the ship lies in about 140ft of water. However we went no deeper than 127-130ft.

There were six of us on the dive, none of whom had done this dive before, plus the dive master. We stepped off the boat, gathered together and headed down to the deck. We then dropped into one of the open cargo holds, swam along and into another hold before dropping down another level and out through a hole blasted in the ship's side when it sank. We then swam along the side of the ship before going up to the bridge and swimming through it and eventually up and around the mast before making our safety stop.

The second dive of the day was a drift dive over a reef and a lot shallower, although on this dive we spotted a turtle, two Lion fish and a large assortment of other fish.
