The Grand Opera House - Harrogate

...... is known nowadays as the Harrogate Theatre. It was opened in 1900 as the Grand Opera House, designed by Frank Tugwell. It is home to theatrical activities that have flourished in Harrogate since the 1760s.
Over the years many famous names have trodden its boards, including Sarah Bernhardt, Charlie Chaplin, Trevor Howard, Arnold Ridley, Fats Waller, Ken Dodd, Ben Kingley, Eddie Izzard and tonight................
.............. I am off there to see the one and only John Shuttleworth!
