Fishing boats

A peaceful scene in Peterhead harbour this morning. Things were not always thus; just a few yards way there is a fading blue plaque set into the wall that reads, in English and in Norwegian:

Peterhead Intelligence Base Headquarters1941-1945

This plaque commemorates the service and sacrifice of the personnel
of the Royal Norwegian Navy’s Fishing Boat Division who participated
in the highly secret and dangerous operations from this building during World War II.

You can read more about this secret operation here and even more here.
