shotlandka's weebig world

Spring time

Another commute shot, taken a hundred metres or so away from yesterday's but on a misty morning. My favourite bit of this shot is the pedestrian trying valiantly to keep his shoes clean by walking on the raised edge of the tow path to avoid the mud.

Another long day at work, followed by the latest projected image comp at Oxford Photographic Society. Judge was excellent with the Novice category, but not the best at judging time, and missed a few aspects of photos. She didn't like one of mine, saying it wasn't clear enough what was going on without the title (Ice fishermen on the Mississippi). The guys I was sitting with were fairly convinced that the fact they were clearly walking on ice and carrying fishing rods as well as a sled of equipment gave more than a vague clue about what was going on. She then didn't like the sodium glow to a light trails shot, but you can't win them all.  I was most annoyed for a couple of other members, one entered some beautiful shots of running deer, and the judge didn't work out that they were panning shots, and went on about the aperture being too wide, and that the background should be more in focus, not just the animal. Ah, judges! I still find the way competitions are done here a bit odd, but had better get used to it!

Tomorrow is a big day for my family!
