43/365 Bartholomews Hall !

43/365  Bartholomews Hall !!  Down a narrow lane in Bridport is Bartholomews Hall, it’s a bit of a mystery this building hard to find anything about its history, I popped into the Bridport Museum Trust Local History Centre  (http://www.bridportmuseum.co.uk/  ) and picked collective minds to find out anything about the place. Best we could find was that in 1826 a touring theatre group run by a Mr Lee had a theatre built in Chancery Lane on the site of a wheelwright’s yard, opened during the August of that year it was used until the mid 1840’s when it was burnt down. It’s assumed that this listed building was erected on the site after that. No other information could be found in the museum archives but in the last few years it was used by a furniture restorer. There is an application for conversion to a “specialist” tea house now with the local council.
