Luckily the weather cleared up. Arvin, Steve and I went to Rob Beichline's house to pit fire some pots from school. We got there early and Rob came out to meet us. There was a drum and Rob and Steve dug two pits to build the fires in. We filled them with sawdust and hay and put in pots with leaves, flowers, feathers, dead birds, seaweed and copper wire on them. We painted some with copper sulfate, iron oxide and salt. Other students arrived and helped to prepare and load all the pots. Rob and a student build fires on top of the two pits. We all ate lunch, said hello to Rob's goats, and talked and laughed together while all this was going on.
