What Van Gogh Saw

We had an outing today--an hour's drive up to Palo Alto just for fun. I felt like we were going to the moon; I was in full cocker spaniel mode, eager in the front seat, my wet nose pressed to the glass, tongue hanging out just a bit, so happy to be Going Somewhere. You'd think I'd been leashed up in the backyard for days.

Palo Alto is a good city to explore--pleasant warm streets, lots of shops and things to look at, good food. We had lunch at a Burmese restaurant (tea leaf salad! pork and pumpkin curry! coconut rice!), walked around a bit and then went over to the Cantor Museum on the Stanford campus. There were two exhibits we wanted to see--She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World, and Loose in Some Real Tropics: Robert Rauschenberg's official NASA documentation of the 1969 launch of Apollo 11. Pretty broad spectrum, and well worth the trip.

Although we did not see any Van Goghs, I loved the lines of these cypress trees, and then was delighted with the moire patterns from the mesh window curtains.
