A single poppy ...

Three years' worth of blips so I have chosen today to photograph my Commemorative Poppy which arrived about a week ago.

My first reaction was one of slight disappointment - it's not delicate or fragile like a real poppy.
Individually it's really quite rough and coarse, almost ugly. But when it stood alongside the other 888, 245 poppies it looked beautiful because its real beauty lies in what it represents; a life lost.
