Crown Range Road

Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit reminders seem to be everywhere in New Zealand but once you arrive in Otago it just shouts out at you.

Today we left Fox Glacier and headed south. It's a longish drive to Queenstown but lovely scenery all the way as we headed through the Mount Aspiring National Park. We stopped at Wanaka for lunch and then took the Crown Range road over the hills rather than the State Highway. You can see on the left of my picture that the road loops a fair bit and I stopped several times for fresh views of The Remarkables, Double Cone and other mountains I can't remember the names of.

We're in Queenstown with a beautiful view of Lake Wakatipu from our room and we have three days here which seems like a nice bit of time before moving on again. There are a few more here.

Happy Valentines day to all you lovely people and thanks for stars and hearts and of course your great comments on yesterday's blip.

David
