Aptucxet Trading Post, c. 1627

The Aptucxet Trading post, now on the shores of the Cape Cod Canal, was established by William Bradford of the Plymouth Colony about 1627 on the portage between  the Manomet and Scusset Rivers (dredged in 1909 to form the first canal) and was a primary location for trading with the Indians and the Dutch of New Amsterdam (New York).  This building is a replica built on the foundation of the original building.
