Oswestry Hillfort Hug

Today is my birthday and I've had a lovely day. Family this morning then this afternoon a group of us went on a protest.

Oswestry has a huge three thousand year old hillfort Old Oswestry Hillfort said to be one of the most important in Europe. A developer put in plans to build three housing estates on the unspoilt land at it's base. Two were thrown out but the largest has remained on the plan supported by the council and English Heritage.

300 - 400 people turned up to Hug the Hillfort . We climbed up and made a heart shape then linked part way round (it's too big to do the whole thing) then aerial photos were taken.

Afterwards we went out for my birthday meal. A most enjoyable and very different birthday!
