Roses, 14 February

In 1983 I bought a dozen red roses to mark this day with someone I had sent a tentative card to the previous year.  A lot had happened in those intervening 12 months.  I got them from a flower shop in Jeddah and they cost £150 (about £460 today).  It was the best thing I had done in my life up to that point.  32 years on and we have roses and so much more.
