Travels Through A Lens

Skipton To Carlisle

Took the train from Skipton to Carlisle as the scenery along the route is stunning, including looking out on to Whernside, Inglenorough and Penyghent along the route, all very popular hills for walking as they form the three peaks challenge in the Yorkshire Dales.

The picture is a blurry capture of a deer as I saw three on separate parts of the route. As I don't see them often and this one was standing in the middle of the river, I'm blipping it.

At Carlisle you can get to Hadrians Wall, which is a World Heritage site, and when built spanned 80 Roman miles (73 statute miles or 120 km). Carlisle has been an important centre since Roman times with a castle which was once home to Mary Queen of Scots.

The day itself was sunny and hot. Summer has definitely arrived this week :)
