The Cocker

No, not Chloe. This shot shows the Lorton Vale and the river Cocker. Cocker in this context means crooked, and you can see that it is.* In a few miles it arrives in Cockermouth and joins the river Derwent. A few yard beyond the confluence it flows passed our house. At some times of year the river has two colours when the Cocker and the Derwent are carrying different colours of silt.
This was not the best shot I took today but Trev has a lovely one of Chloe and snowdrops and I thought mine was quite interesting (if you like that sort of information of course!)

* Cocker as in cocker spaniel comes from woodcock which they were used to flush out and retrieve when shot.
