Outreach Clinics in #Zanzibar #Prevention

In Zanzibar, hearing loss is notoriously under-reported.  There is more ear disease in the poorest areas yet the poorest people are least likely to seek medical help. This is why our partners in Zanzibar provide outreach clinics, staffed by medical volunteers, which go directly to communities and villages to screen for infections and diseases.  Rather than waiting for the affected patients to seek help, by which time often the only recourse is surgery, IMPACT Zanzibar brings healthcare to the people. 


Hearing impairment traps people in poverty by making employment difficult, as well as often causing isolation.  With your help, IMPACT can screen patients early, provide on-the-spot treatments and refer more serious cases to hospital before they become debilitating.
