The Outraged Christ

New sculpture in the Cathedral, unveiled at the weekend.  Made by Charles Luytens (the great nephew of Edwin Luytens, who at one stage might have been the architect of the RC Cathedral - he wasn't, but that's a whole different story) over the course of about 40 years (on and off - I assume he did other things).

It wasn't originally intended to be a crucified Christ, but the look is the same as planned - of outrage at what humans do to humans and nations do to nations.  It seems apt in these sombre times.

The sculpture is on loan to the Cathedral, but will be there for at least 3 years.  Go see.  It's an unnerving and striking piece.
