Planet Garage Daily! Queenie under a hot tin roof

Sorry for the lack of updates, consider this as Daily as Planet Earth Live is Live!.

With the weather reaching 24C outside and no sign or sounds of hatchings, Queenie is feeling the heat. It is a double garage which gets warm inside under its tin and translucent roof panels. I must get a temperature gauge inside, but without a doubt its above 30. So I have had doors and windows akimbo to relieve the heat stress.

In the middle of the day she is standing out of the nest, feet resting on the edge, neck pointed upwards with her mouth open. I guess like Poppy she is trying to loose heat through respiration. She does not look comfortable, but it may be entirely normal. May need to seek advice from RSPB or some such.

Hatching must be due anytime soon. The male has spotted around the garage so is keep an eye on things. Oh and the local Magpie (thugs) have returned to the area. They must realise there is a lot of fledging going on. Discovered a blue tit bobbing around the trees in the back. That is cute tweeting to listen to.
