A Thousand a Day

Grey Wagtail

It is one year today since my dad died. When I posted the news on blip last year I included a picture of a grey wagtail  that Dad had drawn from his Observers Book of Birds, in my image. Today I walked through the dene, thought of Dad, and hoped there would be a wagtail prepared to pose. Not only did the wagtails oblige, but I enjoyed a kingfisher fly-past, a wonderful sighting of a jay, and even saw an escaped Harris hawk, that has been reported in the area since before Christmas, being chased off by some crows. (I managed a half decent shot of the hawk, but nothing was going to displace Dad's wagtail today) The birds did him proud.
