The Ladies' Pavilion

Hidden in the woods on the edge of the historic Sheffield Park cricket ground (where cricket - including early international matches against Australia has been played since 1845) lie the neglected foundations of the Ladies' Pavilion. This was one of two lavish cast iron structures built by Lord Sheffield for his guests to use. The Ladies' Pavilion was an octagonal design, the ironwork - a few pieces of which are still lying around in the undergrowth - was painted in blue and gold and the interior lined with marble and velvet.
