Caught in a Rat Trap

As Bob would undoubtedly say....

Second night of laying out the traps and, in words of Ghostbusters' Janine, "We got one!". Only one, so had to release him alone. Felt strangely guilty about removing him from his little pack, driving outside the city, and punting him off into some fields. The problem with being an animal lover is balancing the needs of various different types (for instance, I love seeing the Kestrels and knowing I may have a nest to watch, but know that means countless mice and voles and the like losing their lives to the new family). Our chooks have to be the priority for us in the garden, but I'll avoid killing the rats if I can. Must block up the holes the rats can use to get into the run as well. And we'll see if anything else triggers the traps overnight...
