Shepherd's Warning

This is the red sky at dawn this morning in Northampton, England.

But my thoughts are mostly on the other side of the planet where massive Tropical Cyclone Marcia has just made landfall over Queensland's east coast near the town of St Lawrence, then expected to track both inland and south down the coast to Brisbane. It has just made landfall as a Category 5 - the highest lever there is equating to 12 on the Beaufort Scale (hurricane).

Ahead of landfall a number of towns were evacuated and other towns are joining the list. Gusts of up to 295 kilometres per hour and 300-500 mm of rain are likely across a vast area of south-east Queensland.

Hoping for no loss of life.
