Abandoned

Derelict Thursday

If I once again use the definition of the word ‘derelict’ as that of ‘something abandoned’, then here is a relic of the past, no longer used and left to be taken over by nature.

Churn Stands are a common sight in the countryside, anywhere where there was dairy farming – we have several in our village. They were roadside platforms, built to allow easy loading of milk churns onto carts and later into trucks. This one, on the edge of the village is covered in moss and lichen, but it looks as if it will last for a long time yet. Will it last longer than the memory of what it was once used for, I wonder.
