32 Years

It's our wedding anniversary today. The theme for 32nd anniversaries is conveyances, apparently.

Conveyances as in transport, not conveyances as in my husband bought me a house. Unfortunately.

To meet the transport theme, we went for a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In winter it only runs between Pickering and Grosmont so we didn't get as far as Whitby but, given the weather, it was probably just as well. It rained all day and was bloomin' cold.

Apart from the weather we had a really lovely day with the added bonus that we managed to bag ourselves a first class compartment, all to ourselves, at no extra cost.

The downside was that on arrival at the car park we found it was pay and display, £5 for the full day. We had to walk half a mile to the train ticket office to get change for the car park ticket machine, all the way back to buy the ticket and put it in the car, then all the way back again to catch the train. The upside to that was that we missed the 11.00am train, which was a regular diesel train, and caught the 12.00noon train instead, which was the rather splendid steam train in the photo.
