Dabbling Duck

I love these Harlequin ducks which presented themselves for me and my camera today.   Only a couple of males and a bunch of females, they were feeding and splashing away,…  they do dive for mollusks and crustaceans and insects, but they also “dabble” which this one was doing —bill down under the water, bob up, and down again, moving swiftly.. .I chose this one for the drop.  but will eventually post some others on flickr HERE


It didn’t really rain as predicted —we actually managed to get out for a row on flat water in just a bit of a mizzle today, testing my phone in various places (it worked! hurray!)….altho I think now H has the lurgy too…. but he’s been out moving wood…

I can't seem to remember to click "use thumbnail" to get the thumbnail I want and I think we get only one chance.  right??  (thanks, Joquinn and Pilipo, I now know how!)
