Saving the best 'til last

Today is our last day on the Coromandel peninsula and so we went up the coast to a small place called Whangapoua and walked around the rocks and over a saddle to a delightful little beach called New Chums beach (pictured). We sat on the beach and watched a gannet flying up and down the little bay, diving and catching fish. What a beautiful bird with a golden head.

There is no access to New Chums beach other than along the rocks and over the saddle at low tide. There is great debate about the beach at present as an American wants to build a road to it and build houses there. There are literally 100s of small, beautiful beaches with roads and houses, can this one not be left as be?
