Disappointment

It was a grand mansion that had been constructed on a private beach but it had become a bit derelict.  Still, it seemed worthy of a grand reception and party.  Fancy clothes were purchased.  Champagne was acquired.  Many invitations were issued.  Many hours transpired but no one arrived to join the planned festivities.
