Lampeter, Ceredigion, Wales

We did our usual shopping trip to Lampeter today and I thought it about time that I post a photo of this pleasant little town.  The Welsh name is Llanbedr Pont Steffan.  It is on the River Teifi, and has a population of under 3,000.  The University was founded in 1822 and is the third oldest in the UK after Oxford and Cambridge.
Lampeter became our centre when we were house-hunting in Wales and still living in Switzerland.  Although it is a small town, it still retains its individuality and is definitely not a typical clone town which is why we like it so much.  The people are very welcoming and helpful and the reason why we prefer to shop here rather than in Aberystwyth which has more choice of shops.  If you like sewing then Lampeter is a must-visit town for the wonderful Calico Kate, a delightful shop with 8 rooms of the most beautiful cotton fabric, haberdashery & yarn.  Husbands are best deposited in the cafe-deli next door!
