Clockface - Ziferblat

Some friends and I met in an interesting place which opened earlier this month in Manchester.  We were able to relax and talk in very comfortable surroundings while six year old L happily played with the lego and other games.  Some people were chatting while others played board games and others were reading or on their laptops.  Toast, cereals, biscuits, cake and fruit were available as well as many different kinds of drinks and all were free.

The only thing we had to pay for was our time. Ziferblat  is Russian for Clockface and as we entered we were offered a clock and the time was noted so that when we left we were charged 5p a minute.  So for £3 an hour we could help ourselves to as much drink (non alcoholic) and nibbles as we wished which worked out considerably less than it would in a conventional café.  The idea is to treat it as if it was home which meant making the drink and toast ourselves and washing up but most of all to relax in very comfortable surroundings.
If anyone is in Manchester I can thoroughly recommend a visit and hope that it won’t be long before Scotland gets its first Ziferblat
